Veronica Mars has quite an effect on the men around her, whether it’s her dad the detective or the boys at Neptune High.  This week on TheWB, watch and learn about three men who make an appearance alongside Veronica in the town of Neptune but be careful- don’t want to rock the boat too much.

Kevin Smith in Driver Ed

You might not be able to recognize Smith outside his trench coat and ponytail from his earlier work in Jay and Silent Bob, but this time around he steps out of his comfort zone and plays (you’ll never guess it!) convenience store clerk Duane Anders.

Joss Whedon in Rat Saw God

joss_whedon2

Joss Whedon knows a thing or two when it comes to strong, intelligent women. Whedon is the creator/writer of hit shows like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel and Firefly among others. This time around he plays a rental car salesman with a knack for the German language working in sunny San Diego.

Britt Daniel in Rashard and Wallace go to White Castle

britt_daniel3

If you’ve had a thing for indie rock within the past 10 years, you’ve no doubt heard of band Spoon and its lead singer Britt Daniel. Even if you’re not familiar with the band, you’ve heard their music on The O.C., and Chuck to name a few.  Watch Daniel (sans band) sing Elvis Costello’s ode to his grandma to Mars.  Will she get distracted by the voice from this tall drink of water, or will she be able to solve the case?

Summer Girls On TheWB.com

June 26th, 2009 3:07 pm | 35 Comments »

Whether you’re looking for a gal pal who knows her gossip or an assertive female figure to look out for you during the next few months, TheWB.com’s bringing you two enchanting girls named Summer who are just as refreshing as the season after which they’re dubbed.

Summer Glau summerterminator2
Why she’s a catch: On Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Summer Glau plays Cameron - a Terminator assigned to protect the future leader of the human resistance. She’s a robot, but her human-mimicking capabilities make her appear warmer than many a homo sapien! Oh yeah, and to further amp up her cool factor, Summer’s Firefly character River Tam knows how to make her way around a spaceship.

Moment in the sun:
In TSCC’s “Gnothi Seauton”, she exhibits a striking combination of fortitude and compassion by admonishing a family of humans to “Remain calm”…before removing her face from the windshield of their car.

Summer Roberts
summerocWhy she’s a catch: The O.C.’s Summer Roberts is played by the ever-alluring Rachel Bilson. Even though Summer’s quip-filled relationship with Seth Cohen plays more like a handy tennis match than a fairy tale romance, she expects to be treated as a princess. High maintenance? Sure. Worth the drama? Well, Seth did name his boat – the Summer Breeze - after her!

Moment in the sun: In The O.C.’s “The Rainy Day Women”, she manages to make a lemon meringue bride’s maid dress look kinda chic. And that takes a whole lotta charisma!

Joel McHale guest stars on "Pushing Daisies"

You might recognize Joel McHale from his day job as host of the weekly satirical talk show The Soup on the E! Network, or as bank manager Mr. Jacks in Spider-Man 2, but chances are you’ve never seen him like this.

McHale guests on an episode of Pushing Daisies as Harold Hundin – dog breeder, polygamist, and corpse. When Ned brings the president of the Papin County Kennel Club back to life to solve his murder and collect the reward, the case seems like a walk in the park. But it’s not until the gang gets back to the Pie Hole that things start getting a little hairy. Which Haudin wife did him in – Heather, Hillary, Simone, or Hailey? What’s Emerson doing flirting with a suspect? And has Olive screwed the pooch with things between Chuck and Ned?  Find out on Pushing Daisies’ “Bitches.”

Born in Rome, this week’s guest star grew up in Vancouver. He got his degree in History from the University of Washington, where not only received a Master’s in acting, but also played tight end for the Huskies National Championship football team. But it was the “The Soup” that made him a household name (along with Stains the cupcake dog and the chicken tetrazzini lady).

With its food courts, arcades, and people-watching spots, the mall is a familiar and ideal place to escape from your day-to-day grind (unless you work there!). Still, very few people have ever witnessed what occurs in a department store once the lights go out. For that reason, it’s awesome that The O.C.’s  “The Mallpisode”, grants us an all-access pass to the shopping center amusements that come alive after hours!

Turns out that there’s a wealth of activities to keep you entertained, should you get trapped in a mall overnight. And thanks to Seth, Ryan, Marissa, and Summer’s nocturnal escapades, we uncovered some solid tips on how to enjoy yourself until the morning light.

- Get some fresh air: Exploring the inner-workings of a store’s vents might yield some surprising results.Seth and Ryan crawled through the maze of air conditioning tunnels in hopes of finding a way to escape the mall, but instead they ended up literally falling into the next phase of their adventure.

- Play without restraint: Without an audience, referee, or scoreboard, our four campers were free to battle each other in an unrestricted game of roller hockey. And since there were no true “out of bounds” markers, Summer and Marissa showed off their athleticism by aggressively pursuing the ball - even when it bounced down the store’s escalator.

- Gather ’round the (demo) campfire: While Ryan and Marissa rekindled their flame in a deluxe tent, Seth and Summer got heated over their apparent trust issues. Okay, so the pseudo-outdoors portion of the evening had it’s bumpy moments, but wasn’t the idea of the couples toasting s’mores over the faux fire beyond cute?

Have you ever spent the night in a public location? What’d you do to stay alert/alive?

Both The Hangover and Land of the Lost open in theaters today and both movies feature a star from TheWB.com!
