Help Lara Croft kick a Tiger in the face.

I’ve never been into the Tomb Raider games, since I think shorty shorts are an impractical clothing choice for jungle adventuring, and should be confined to Nelly videos and early 80’s basketball games.

I also think “tomb raiding” is really one step away from “grave robbing.” I am going to have a grave one day, hopefully one willed with treasure, and I don’t like games that might encourage people to defile my final resting place.

But there was some good buzz about the latest Tomb Raider game, Tomb Raider: Underworld, so I decided to at least check out the trailer

As you can see, very little robbing of graves, so that’s an improvement. However according to this trailer, the gameplay seems to center on two things: acrobatics, and karate-kicking tigers in the face.

Acrobatics can be a fun way to increase strength and flexibility. Tiger kicking, on the other hand, is a very dangerous activity for all involved.

Some games like Grand Theft Auto offers the escapist fantasy of stealing a helicopter, or evading from the police during a high speed chase, but who has fantasies of kicking endangered species in the face?

Maybe a kiwi, but that’s it.

I don’t know how much fun the new Tomb Raider game is, but I won’t be playing the trailer for it again soon.
