Today while trying to find a good costume idea, I came across a list of the most popular costumes for children. Now, I don’t have a child, (that I know of) but I still thought it was pretty interesting.

I’m not entirely sure this is accurate, but here are the most popular costumes for children this year. (And my thoughts on the costume in parentheses)

10. Athlete, ghost (tie) – (Split the difference and dress your child as a dead athlete. Kids love going as Wilt Chamberlain.)

9. Disney princess – (A favorite of every young girl and a few young boys.)

8. Batman – (Dress your child as the star of his favorite violent action flick!)

7. Pumpkin – (Other pie ingredients are underrepresented.)

6. “Star Wars” character – (What little boy doesn’t want to be Jabba The Hutt?)

5. Pirate – (If there’s one thing kids love, it’s not paying for software. )

4. Spider-Man – (The year’s most popular hyphenated costume.)

3. Hannah Montana – (If you are going to dress as a Cyrus this year, don’t go as Billy Ray.)

2. Witch – (This costume has been a big seller ever since that beloved children’s classic “The Blair Witch Project.”)

1. Princess – (Wasn’t this on the list already?)
