Spike Spin-Off Series?

spikeSci Fi Wire met up with James Marsters from Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel who has been making the rounds promoting his latest film, Dragonball: Evolution.

Apparently Marsters and Joss Whedon have talked extensively about a spin-off series based on his famous character, Spike.

“Oh, yeah, when Angel was coming down, [creator] Joss [Whedon] came to me and said, ‘Do you want to do a Spike project? And I said, ‘Heck yes. In fact, whatever you want to do, whether it’s Spike or not, wherever I am in the world, just call me.”

Of course, this doesn’t mean it would actually happen, especially with both Buffy and Angel off the air (except for The WB.com!). Would you watch a series like this?

R.I.P. Andy Hallet from Angel

Moye March 30th, 2009 7:01 pm | 3 Comments »

lorneActor/singer Andy Hallet, best known as Lorne (or The Host) from Angel, passed away yesterday in Los Angeles after a five year battle with heart disease.

The Cape Cod native began his stage career as a high school student at Barnstable High, the very same campus featured in High Drama. Hallet’s first acting role was on Angel after Joss Whedon was inspired to create a karaoke-loving demon character after watching him perform.

Rest In Peace, Andy Hallet. You will be missed!

streamys-2

So the first annual Streamy awards ceremony was this weekend, and while TheWB.com had our share of nominations, Dr. Horrible’s Sing-along Blog and people associated with Dr. Horrible’s Sing-along Blog took home a lot of the actual trophies. Dr. Horrible creator Joss Whedon also created Buffy , Angel , and Firefly , so we’re not surprised that the Streamys recognized his talent.

However, we didn’t go home completely empty-handed. Pink won an award for best directing.

For the full list of winners, check out the rundown from our friends over at Tubefilter.

And if you want to see behind-the-scenes photos of the big event, you can check out the flickr page or official site of Streamy’s photographer, Lan Bui. Jessica Rose has red hair now?

Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Angel, and Firefly creator Joss Whedon is working on a horror movie called Cabin In The Woods. Not much plot from the movie is available yet, but cast details are slowly leaking out. Today The Hollywood Reporter reported that actor Brian White has joined the cast. He’s probably best known for Stomp The Yard, but he’s been in a ton of movies and television shows.

Plus, he’s in great shape, probably from lifting that heavy hat.

Happy WBirthday: Alyson Hannigan

If you’re anything like America, you fell in love with Hannigan on Buffy The Vampire Slayer, and then fell more in love with her in American Pie. The infatuation only got deeper with her role on How I Met Your Mother.

Of course, she had to go and marry that handsome jerk from Angel, leaving American broken hearted. America is over it, really, and wishes her the best in her marriage even though we didn’t get an invite to the wedding.

Alyson, you aren’t here at the office, but we are eating cake with you in our heart. Happy Birthday.

boreanazsexy

There’s a lot of sexy people on television. But according to TV Guide, only 10 men can be considered the sexist on TV.  And Angel’s David Boreanaz made the cut this year, for his presumably sexy work on Bones. He wasn’t the sexiest of the sexy, since that honor went to sexy Simon Baker of The Mentalist, but Boreanaz was still sexy enough to make the list.

Congrats, David. We think you’re sexy on the internet as well.

david-boreanazEntertainment Weekly sat down with David Boreanaz from Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel to ask him over 200 questions submitted by their readers about his successful series, Bones—but only managed to ask around 199 of them.

One of them even mentions an episode from Angel!

We don’t want to give away any of Bones spoilers that he may have mentioned, so just read the full interview here!

Cast Set For Joss Whedon’s Cabin

Moye March 13th, 2009 9:49 am | No Comments »

cabininthewoodsThe Hollywood Reporter has added five new names to new cast of the horror film, The Cabin In The Woods, written by Joss Whedon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) and Drew Goddard (who wrote Cloverfield). The film, which is already in production and set for release next year, now includes Kristen Connolly, Chris Hemsworth, Anna Hutchison, Fran Kranz and Jesse Williams.

“Finding this ensemble has been very hard and very rewarding,” Whedon said. “Each of the ‘kids’ is unique, fascinating and talented, and like true friends, the group is more than the sum of its parts. These are people you care about, able to go toe to toe with the amazing actors we’ve corralled thus far, and not unpretty in the bargain. I can’t wait to harm them.”

They’re being pretty mysterious about the film plot, which IMDB describes as “a twisted and unusual take on the familiar ‘cabin in the woods’ formula,” which I hope means there’s a mysterious monster that smashes the cabin into pieces.

Charisma Carpenter Gets Expendable

charismacarp

Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Angel star Charisma Carpenter is set to join the cast of The Expendables, an action movie about a group of mercenaries directed and written by Sylvester Stallone. The movie stars Stallone, Mickey Rourke, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jet Li, Danny Trejo, Jason Statham, and Dolph Lundgren. Carpenter seems to be the only one in the cast that isn’t an older, muscular dude. Maybe they are planning on some heavy special effecs to make her fit in? The movie is supposed to be out in 2010.

Little “Angel” for David Boreanaz

Lots of women dream of being knocked up by David Boreanaz, (they do, right?) but only his wife, Jaime Bergman, can claim the distinction of bringing a Boreanaz baby to term.

Now, she’s doubling her accomplishment. Angel and Buffy The Vampire Slayer star Boreanaz let it slip this morning on Live With Regis And Kelly that he was expecting a 2nd child. No word on if it a boy, girl, or vampire.

Either way, congrats, David. I’m sure the baby will be cute, or at least ruggedly handsome.
