streamys-2

So the first annual Streamy awards ceremony was this weekend, and while TheWB.com had our share of nominations, Dr. Horrible’s Sing-along Blog and people associated with Dr. Horrible’s Sing-along Blog took home a lot of the actual trophies. Dr. Horrible creator Joss Whedon also created Buffy , Angel , and Firefly , so we’re not surprised that the Streamys recognized his talent.

However, we didn’t go home completely empty-handed. Pink won an award for best directing.

For the full list of winners, check out the rundown from our friends over at Tubefilter.

And if you want to see behind-the-scenes photos of the big event, you can check out the flickr page or official site of Streamy’s photographer, Lan Bui. Jessica Rose has red hair now?

Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Angel, and Firefly creator Joss Whedon is working on a horror movie called Cabin In The Woods. Not much plot from the movie is available yet, but cast details are slowly leaking out. Today The Hollywood Reporter reported that actor Brian White has joined the cast. He’s probably best known for Stomp The Yard, but he’s been in a ton of movies and television shows.

Plus, he’s in great shape, probably from lifting that heavy hat.

vandervoort

Smallville’s Laura Vandervoort, who played the midriff-bearing Kara -AKA Supergirl- is set to be a (presumably hot) alien in the remake of the sci-fi classic “V.” Everwood star Scott Wolf is also signed onto the series, and Firefly hottie Morena Baccarin has been cast as the head alien, so there’s lots of WB vets to love. With that cast, it looks like the aliens have come to liberate us from the tyranny of not enough gorgeous people.

Colbert Beats Firefly In Conquest Of Space

colbert

Great is the power of the Colbert Nation. So great that a wing of the international spacestation could possibly be named after Stephen Colbert. NASA had an online contest to name the new wing, and Colbert fans rallied make him the winner. Coming in 2nd was “Serenity,” a name referencing both Firefly’s spaceship and “the state of being calm, peaceful, and untroubled.”

NASA still has the right to name the wing anything they want, so if there are any astrophysicists that are Firefly fans, Serenity might have a shot.

Nathan Fillion is known around these parts as Captain Mal on Firefly and Captain Hammer in Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog. He also has a more “normal” acting career with roles on Desperate Housewives and One Life To Live. Now Fillion is starring in the new TV show Castle, which premieres this week, and The Onion AV Club sat down with him to talk about his new show, working with Joss Whedon, and how he got the lead role on Firefly. You can check out the entire interview here.

The A.V. Club Interviews Eliza Dushku

And here again is another interview with Eliza Dushku about her new series, Dollhouse with Joss Whedon (creator of Angel , Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Firefly ).

I’m warning you now that unlike most stuff on The A.V. Club, this article isn’t very humorous. That’s okay, though, because gazing into Dushku’s hotness makes up for everything.

I just hope she isn’t getting tired of answering the same questions over and over again.

Joss Whedon: No Dollhouse Comics

Moye February 6th, 2009 5:55 pm | No Comments »

Joss Whedon is known to be good to his fans: if his cult-following shows like Buffy or Firefly aren’t on television anymore, then you can always depend on his comic series spin-off to continue the story.

But don’t expect the same treatment for his new Fox show, Dollhouse. Whedon recently confided that he’ll be focusing more on the TV aspect of Dollhouse than bringing it to the drawing board,

“There won’t be [a comic]. The science fiction of this is much more science. It’s mostly actors, acting differently. It’s not something you need to see drawn.”

Wait, what?! Does this mean we’ll actually have to WATCH his new show on TV? Oh, fine.

The WB Hotties Make Most Desirable Women List

Brendan January 23rd, 2009 11:59 am | No Comments »

AskMen.com has released their list of the 99 Most Desirable Women of 2009, and although Eva Mendes was #1, several women from TheWB.com made the list.

Veronica Mars star Kristen Bell made it into the top ten, with her #9 slot, right between Kate Beckinsale and Rihanna. (Who wouldn’t want to be there? Zing! Suggestive joke!)

Firefly and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles star Summer Glau came in at #36, One Tree Hill guest-star Maria Menounos was ranked #55, and Roswell star Katherine Heigl was listed at #81. Heigl was listed at #1 last year, so that’s quite a drop. Maybe not enough AskMen.com voters are watching Grey’s Anatomy this year.
