According to Kotaku, 7-Eleven, the convenience store, is going to start selling video games. At first, this might seem a little odd, since video games aren’t gasoline or candy or sugary frozen drinks. But it makes sense, since many gamers are partial to the type of unhealthy food-like products available at convenience stores.

I especially like their food prepared on greasy metal rollers, like hot dogs, king sized hot dogs, and the hot dogs with cheese injected into it like cheesy veins of flavor.

7-Elevens are also open late or always, which is great for gamers who can’t want to pick up their game at midnight the day it comes out. Talk about convenience.

I don’t think they are going to have a full slate of games, so you’ll have to pick up your copy of Nintendogs somewhere else. Only the most popular upcoming titles like Fallout 3, Guitar Hero: World Tour, Gears of War 2 will be available.

Jerky, on the other hand, will be available with no pre-orders.

The Xbox 360 is normally used as a game machine, or in extreme cases, as a boat anchor. Now it is being used to get people to vote.

No longer content with just “rocking” the vote, Rock the Vote (or, as the kids call it, RTV) is partnering with Xbox live to get gamers to the polls. RTV is still keeping their name, I bet because “Game the Vote” sounds like it advocates fraud.

Starting this week, the 12 million users of Xbox live will be able to register to vote online. Rock the Vote will also be at both the Democratic and Republican conventions, although I bet the people there are already registered.

Will the presidential candidates reach out to the online gaming community, perhaps by adopting a cool gamer name like Pwnbama or John_McPain? Only time will tell. (and I the answer will be no)

If you are like me and too busy watching Whatever Hollywood to turn on your Xbox, you can register to vote online through Declare Yourself.

The real question is why they decided to hold the election just days after the Lego Batman game comes out. Doesn’t the FTC know anything about scheduling?
