I’m a Seth Cohen level nerd, so I’m pretty versed in what happens in the upcoming graphic novel adaptation The Watchmen. Nevertheless, I was surprised that Japanese Watchmen trailer that shows much more of the movie’s alternate universe. Warning, parts of this trailer are in Japanese, yet it features no samurais nor spicy tuna rolls.
Normally, broccoli is used for eating, but a dude from Japan has fashioned a big piece of broccoli into a musical instrument. Here he is, playing the Christmas classic, “Angels We have Heard on High” on his broccoli ocarina.
It’s a start, but I wish he would have made his ocarina out of something more seasonal, like a candy cane or a reindeer bone.

Remember that weird keychain from Japan that gave you the satisfaction of ripping open a cereal box without the cereal or box?
Now there’s a new keychain that mimics banana peeling. I don’t get it. But I want one.
I know you guys love opening snack and cereal boxes as much as I do. Bandai Asovision understands as well, which is why they’ve developed the “Mugen PeriPeri” keychain toy that mimics the opening of a cardboard snack box.
Unfortunately, that’s all it does. This makes me sad, because I was hoping they’d also invent some sort of way to miraculously provide snacks on a keychain. Instead, all you get to do is “open” it. Boo.
Am I the first one to know about Louis Vuitton’s collaboration with COMME des GARCONS in Japan?
The special dual store opened a couple weeks ago for Japan’s fashion elite, giving them an exclusive first look at the new LV/CdG collection. The six special bags all feature the classic LV monogram but with a quirky, Japanese twist.
My favorites are the popular Papillon bag with cute little leather animal charms, and the Mini HL handbag with multiple handles. They’re like handbags with a good sense of humor. Click here to see the photos.
If you’re looking to buy one of these, expect to purchase a plane ticket as well. These bags are only available by order, which you can only place in person at the store. Oh, and the store closes in three months, so you better hurry up!

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I thought the whole motivation behind advancing technology is to make the process as small and as fast as possible. The thinner, the smaller, the faster, the sleaker, the better.
Right? But please explain this to me why Japanese mobile phone provider, Willcom, recently demonstrated their latest invention, the Kuma Phone, which is basically a stuffed teddy bear cell phone. You simply insert your SIM card into the bear (hopefully in its butt) and then dial away.
You can save up to four speed dial numbers in the bear, one in each paw, which are activated by pinching internal sensors. It vibrates and makes custom noises for incoming calls, which can be answered and finished by pressing the tail.
This is great. Not only can I cuddle my new cell phone to sleep, but I can also look like a complete idiot by holding a giant stuffed animal to my head every time I get a call. I can also only save up to four phone numbers, which is perfect, because I only have four friends to call. Sign me up.
Apparently Willcom designed this concept phone to appeal to women, but I know I won’t be the first to say that this is the worst idea ever. You want to appeal to women? Stay away from the stuffed animals. We are not at a carnival. And we all do not collect Beanie Babies.
