Great is the power of the Colbert Nation. So great that a wing of the international spacestation could possibly be named after Stephen Colbert. NASA had an online contest to name the new wing, and Colbert fans rallied make him the winner. Coming in 2nd was “Serenity,” a name referencing both Firefly’s spaceship and “the state of being calm, peaceful, and untroubled.”

NASA still has the right to name the wing anything they want, so if there are any astrophysicists that are Firefly fans, Serenity might have a shot.

Hugh Jackman To Host Oscars

Hugh Jackman, AKA Wolverine, is going to host the Oscars this year.

Is this first time that the current “Sexiest Man Alive” hosted the Oscars? My intuition says yes, but I should google it.

I was hoping for Stephen Colbert or Miley Cyrus, But I think hiring Jackman is a good move.

Hugh isn’t just a sexy actor, he’s a full-on entertainer.

After the jump, Jackman in tight gold pants, singing and dancing at the Tony awards.

Operation Humble Kanye West

I’ve been following Stephen Colbert’s latest outreach program, Operation Humble Kanye West, in order to push sales of his A Colbert Christmas on iTunes. What better way to fight the current chart topper, Kanye West, than to launch a direct campaign against him?

You can watch the video of Colbert’s tirade here, where he urged fans to buy his album in iTunes yesterday at 5:00pm EST.

Of course, how did Kanye respond? Check it out after the jump.

Trailer Time: Monsters Vs. Aliens

Brendan November 6th, 2008 11:03 am | No Comments »

There’s a few things we enjoy here: monsters (Angel, Buffy the Vampire Slayer), aliens (Roswell, Babylon 5, Gilmore Girls season 10), and pizza (lunch, dinner, brunch).

Pizza is inconsequential to this blog, but I thought I’d include it since I’m hungry. Aliens and monsters, however, make sense to mention. Here’s the new trailer for the 3-D, CGI animated moive, Monsters Vs. Aliens.

Monsters Vs. Aliens includes the voice talents of Reese Witherspoon, Keifer Sutherland, Stephen Colbert, Seth Rogen, Will Arnet, and Friends and Veronica Mars vet Paul Rudd.

I hope the monsters win.

The WB’s Newest (And Best?) Comedy

Brendan October 16th, 2008 5:46 pm | 1 Comment »

You can’t tell by my writing, but I’m a big fan of comedy -  especially comedy narrated by Stephen Colbert. So of course I’m super excited that the best new comedy of the season is going to be making its home here at TheWB.com. (That’s where I work!) Behold the trailer for “Childrens’ Hospital.”

YouTube Preview Image

The man behind the Childrens’ Hospital is The Daily Show’s Rob Corddry, but it also stars Ed Helms, Megan Mullally, Stephen Colbert, and lots of other very, very funny people. I’m deeply unpopular here, so no one has told me an exact premiere date, but I overheard December.
