Thanksgiving Leftovers!!

Moye J. Frog November 28th, 2008 10:27 am

Would you argue with me if I stated that the best thing about Thanksgiving was the leftovers? There’s nothing like cold turkey and stuffing in the morning. Yum, yum.

Personally, I just like to keep my leftovers traditional. Yes, this means I recreate my Thanksgiving dinner plate for 3 days straight but leave me alone.

We’ve found some pretty innovative recipes for the rest of y’all to help spruce up your own leftovers. Check them out!

  • Wisebread offers not one, or two, but FOUR different meals you can make! (The mashed potato patties are the best.)
  • Cooking Light decides to go abroad with their “Turkey With An Accent” series: you can add a global twist to the traditional Americana foods by making turkey potstickers or turkey lime soup.
  • Meanwhile, the Chicago Sun-Times argues that Thanksgiving leftovers should be exactly that: left simple. Read all about it here.
  • There’s a whole list of ideas for you to try at CDKitchen.

Enjoy!

Thanksgiving Recipes: Lumpy Mashed Potatoes

Moye J. Frog November 26th, 2008 8:10 pm

We first offered you options to make Rachel’s infamous trifle from Friends, and now we bring you Ross’ lumpy mashed potatoes which he insisted Monica make for Thanksgiving after Phoebe made them too creamy. You can watch that episode if you need to refresh your memory.

I always thought lumps in mashed potatoes were bad, but apparently people LIKE lumps in their potatoes! You can try them yourself with the recipes below:

Thanksgiving Dangers: Overeating

Moye J. Frog November 26th, 2008 5:45 pm

I’m sure most of you are super excited about tomorrow’s Thanksgiving dinner, but I know there are a select few who view the whole day as a challenge, especially when it comes to weight-loss.

Luckily, About.com has a handy list of ways to “triumph over Turkey Day,” including stuffing yourself not with turkey but with vegetables, staying off the alcohol, portion control and basically, a whole lotta UNFUN. Boooooring!

You can read the entire list yourself, but please know that I completely disagree with it. Way to ruin Thanksgiving!

The WB Friends Thanksgiving Challenge 2008

Moye J. Frog November 26th, 2008 4:02 pm

Remember that episode of Friends where Monica challenges Joey to eat a whole turkey for Thanksgiving? (If you’re not sure which episode that is, then I highly suggest you watch all 9 Thanksgiving episodes of Friends right now to catch up.)

We thought we’d take Monica up on her offer by bringing you The WB Friends Thanksgiving Challenge 2008 (phew, long title) with two contenders from our staff, Hank and Ben. Watch the video above to see how it turned out.

Happy Turkey Day from The WB!!!

Jennifer Aniston Tops List Of Thanksgiving Dates

Brendan J. Frog November 26th, 2008 1:15 pm

Thanksgiving dinner is not normally considered a hot date night. As George Carlin said, it’s probably all of the coats are on the bed.

But if you are going to take a date to your turkey-day dinner, why not make it a celebrity?

The owners of Date.com conducted a survey, to determine which celebrity single people would most want to bring to Thanksgiving dinner with their family. Here’s the question they asked:

“You’re single this Thanksgiving and if you could bring any celebrity home to have dinner with your entire family, who would it be?”

I don’t know if that is correct grammar, but we’ll go with it.

The celeb with the most votes was Friends star Jennifer Aniston. Congrats, Jen! Strangers want to take you into their home!

The full results of the survey, after the jump.

Thanksgiving Day Football

Brendan J. Frog November 25th, 2008 9:49 pm

I know We’re not your normal spot for sports news, but on Thanksgiving, even non-sporty people like myself find themselves watching a little gridiron action. Here are the NFL football games scheduled for Thanksgiving day. Remember, you cannot rebroadcast them without the express written permission of the NFL. I heard of a guy who tried that, and now he only has one arm.

12:30 pm ET Titans Vs. Lions

4:15 pm ET Seahawks Vs. Cowboys

8:15 pm ET Cardinals vs. Eagles

As always, check your local listings.

I feel bad for the football players who have to work on a holiday, with nothing to comfort them but their millions and millions of dollars and steady stream of gorgeous women.

You can read more on the NFL’s official Thanksgiving page.

Countdown to Black Friday, via Google

Moye J. Frog November 25th, 2008 6:30 pm

Move over, Black Friday. It’s 2008 and we’re all about Cyber Monday! (Though I say we start a petition to drop the word “cyber.” It just reminds me of creepy old chatrooms.)

Google Checkout is offering “fast, easy holiday shopping” in one single login across the Internet. That’s huge. Do you know how big the Internet is??

They’re offering $5 off any orders over $30 on some pretty awesome sites so check it out before it’s too late.
