Did anyone catch Rob Thomas’ other new series, Cupid, which premiered yesterday on ABC? I did not, since I’ve still been celebrating Earth Hour. There’s a sneak peek above if you’re interested in checking it out.

NY Post’s Popwatch blog spoke to Rob Thomas about Kristen Bell’s guest appearance on Party Down—and clearly, she brings the professionalism to the set.

The “Party Down” set tends to get a little loosey goosey because it’s filled with all these comedians. Then Kristen shows up and is so perfect with all the aspects of being an actor — so sharp, finding her light and on script that it injected a sense of “oh, this is how other TV shows work” to the set. There is no one better than Kristen.

Now THAT’S what I like best about Veronica Mars. She knows how to get down to business. Bell plays a cater waiter at a rival company in the season finale of Party Down, but we suggest you stock up on the first season of Veronica Mars while you wait for the episode to air.

amanda_seyfriedI know we told you guys earlier that Veronica Mars’ Amanda Seyfried was going to be in Zack Snyder’s new project, Sucker Punch but now we have to let you know it’s actually not happening.

Hollywood Insider
is reporting that HBO won’t let Seyfried out of her Big Love commitment, whose scheduling conflicts with the Sucker Punch production. BOOO!

Can you think of any other WB stars to take on the role? I’m thinking Jeannie Tate, Joni or Susanna.

Check out the new poster for Astro Boy which features the voice of our very own Veronica Mars (that would be Kristen Bell , if you haven’t been paying attention).

It looks like a pretty good CG adaptation of the original comic.

NO VERONICA MARS MOVIE…FOR NOW

Alright, am I the only one getting annoyed with all these news announcements about the Veronica Mars movie? First it’s off, then it’s on, then it’s off, then back on and now, Rob Thomas is breaking the hearts of fans everywhere with a new interview:

“While the pitch [to producer Joel Silver] went well and I don’t think the movie’s dead, right now it’s looking depressing. I think honestly if we would have had the pitch ready a year earlier, it would be a go project. The hope that we would get a quick greenlight didn’t materialize. This is the least optimistic I’ve felt in a while.”

So there you have it. There won’t be a Veronica Mars feature film…anytime soon. Though Thomas originally pitched the movie to take place before Veronica’s college graduation, it looks like at this rate, he’ll have to rewrite it for her retirement home.

Josh Schwartz continues to make the media rounds promoting Rockville CA. This time, he’s talking to E!

You can read the entire interview here.

*Spoiler Alert* I learned that Schwartz cast Veronica Mars vet Ryan Hansen on the Gossip Girl spinoff after seeing him on Rockville CA.

Also, E!, the name of the show is Rockville CA. Just “Rockville” doesn’t cut it.

Hollywood Reporter Reviews Party Down

Moye March 19th, 2009 5:33 pm | No Comments »

The Hollywood Reporter got their hands on the first episode of Rob Thomas’ Party Down (which premieres tomorrow night!) and the review looks good . Andrew Wallenstein calls the series “superior,” especially with a plethora of Veronica Mars friends showing up.

Enrico Colantoni shows up in a pilot as a bored suburbanite who takes to skinny-dipping in his backyard pool to liven up a homeowners association party. He is topped only by Ed Begley Jr., who is a riot in the show’s outstanding third episode as a pill-popping Casanova working the room at a singles event for senior citizens.

Don’t forget to tune in tomorrow night at 10:30pm on Starz to watch the premiere. And in the meantime, you can watch the full first season of Veronica Mars right here. Could life get any better?

Party Up With Party Down

Moye March 18th, 2009 2:56 pm | No Comments »

We will definitely be tuning into Rob Thomas’ new series, Party Down , which premieres this Friday, March 20th on Starz. With all the WB cast in the show, how could we not?

Until then, we’ll just writhe in jealousy at IGN, who got to interview the three stars, Adam Scott, Jane Lynch and Childrens’ Hospital’s Ken Marino.

Marino, who plays Ronald, the team manager of Party Down , got to talk a little about his character and his dreams of opening his own franchise of Souplantation-esque restaurants.

I love it already. Read the conversation here.
