Halloween is LITERALLY TOMORROW. And you know what comes with this holiday…VAMPIRES!
And everyone wants to know how do our classic vampire stories stand against the newcomers like Twilight?
MTV News interviews our Joss Whedon from Buffy the Vampire Slayer on the Twilight phenomenon where teen girls are now drooling over the vampire love in the Stephanie Meyers series and upcoming film.
And Whedon says exactly what we thought all along: the story of a girl falling head over heels for a vampire isn’t new.
He tells MTV,
“If people want stories about girls who love vampires, they should have them,” Whedon said. “It’s not like I came up with it. It’s always deeply romantic or deeply interesting or deeply scary, or all of the above, and that’s going to be mined long after I’m gone.”
Oh, Joss. You may not have come up with the idea, but we still love your unique take with Buffy. And that was a smart move, too, by not saying anything negative about Twilight. Check out the reader comments in the article responding to 30 Days of Night’s Steve Niles’ complaint about sappy Twilight fans. Ouch.
