Vampires are “Hot” right now. First, HBO’s “True Blood,” and now the movie “Twilight”, based on the popular book. Here’s the trailer.

So a teenage girl in love with a dreamy vampire? Haven’t we seen this before?

It was called “Buffy The Vampire Slayer.” Need more proof?

The main difference seems to be that this movie trades humor for flying, and a powerful female lead for a girl that magnetically attracts Chevy Astrovans

WB fans might also recognize the bad guy, since he’s been on The OC and Jack & Bobby. In this movie, he plays a vampire with the terrifying name “James.”

One thing that neither the movie nor Buffy ever addresses is how crappy it must when you’re a teenage vampire. You never get older, and therefore your car insurance premiums never go down. NEVER.

   I think that was the pain over car insurance was the subtext in Buffy with Angel’s constant brooding.
